Senator Witkos On Connecticut’s New Marijuana Laws

OnTheHorn.com | Sen. Witkos Says Police Will Adapt to New Marijuana Laws

State Sen. Kevin Witkos, R-Canton, was the special guest Thursday on NewsTalkTonight with CTNewsJunkie’s Christine Stuart and host Brian Parker at the OnTheHorn.com studios in Glastonbury. The discussion covered Connecticut’s new marijuana laws and how police are dealing with them, the state budget, and other issues.

Witkos, who serves as a Canton police officer in his day job, said that although the law went into effect July 1, he is unaware of any marijuana citations having been written yet in Canton or elsewhere in the Farmington Valley. Witkos, who voted against decriminalization, said he is concerned that the new law’s negatives will outweigh the positives, but he hopes that won’t be the result.
