Hartford Marathon Training Week 2

These long days are great for training. Most of my runs are done either early in the morning or at night. The additional daylight makes life easy.

This week, the Hartford Marathon Foundation emailed me my training schedule. This will be posted both in my office and on my refrigerator at home. It’s a road map to the finish that contains all sorts of numbers.

Tomorrow is my first training run in Glastonbury with the Hartford Marathon training group. Tomorrow’s number is “9” as in I’ll be running 9 miles. I’m looking forward to training with a group because when the numbers start becoming “20” it’s nice to have some company.

My first reaction to the schedule was “why did I think it was a good idea to train for another marathon?” I’m going to be doing a lot of running over the next 16 weeks. The problem for me isn’t the runs. I enjoy running. It’s finding the time in my day to get them in.

When I cross the finish line, I’ll be wearing a really ugly Dana Farber singlet. As part of my journey, I have a goal of raising $500 to fight cancer. Any donation you could make would be greatly appreciated. A dollar a mile would be a donation of $26.20 and that would be awesome. If you’re interested click here.

I’d like to thank a loyal reader for making a donation last week and putting me a few steps closer to my goals.
