A Look Back At My 2009 Baseball Picks

by Ryan McKeen

The moral of the story. Don’t take my picks to Vegas.

On April 6th, I made the following picks:

Red Sox go 98-64 and win the AL East.

Rays take the wild card.

Yankees finish 3rd in the AL East and Joe Girardi opens next season behind the mic on the Major League Baseball network.

Cleveland wins the AL East.

The A’s take the AL West (they have Nomar).

The Phillies repeat in the NL East, the Cubs repeat in the NL Central, and Dodgers repeat in the NL West. The Mets take the NL Wild card.

AL Cy Young: Jon Lester

AL MVP: Grady Sizemore

NL Cy Young: Tim Lincecum

NL MVP: David Wright

Hmmm….

Cleveland is tied with the Royals for last in the AL Central.

Oakland is last in the AL East.

The Yankees won the AL East.

I did pretty well in the NL. Calling Philly and the Dodgers.  The Mets not so much.

My MVPS both disappointed. Wright with only 10 home runs and Sizemore spent most of the season hurt.

Lester and Lincecum  have both been outstanding. Though neither figures to win the CY Young.

And hey, we could still see Manny at Fenway for Game 1.
