Repeat for me…

This weekend I was flipping through my copy of “The Curmudgeon’s Guide to Practicing Law.”

This book is a must read for any law student or young associate.

I was reading the chapter in the book when the Curmudgeon discusses manners and technology.

The Curmudgeon rails against people who don’t repeat their names and phone numbers in voice mails.

I live in my inbox and some days it seems that I never get out of my inbox. Nothing drives me as crazy as when someone calls and I can’t understand their name or phone number. This leads to me having to replay the message several times as I try and decode the name and phone number of the person calling me.

Sometimes this causes me to call wrong numbers and sometimes it results in me being unable to return the phone call at all.

For the love of all that’s good, the next time you leave a voicemail, slowly say your name and phone number and then repeat it.

This ends my public service announcement for today.
