2798th Place!!!

by Ryan McKeen

In August, I wrote about my fear of failure.  For years, I wanted to run the Hartford Half Marathon. But I never signed up. I let my fear of failing prevent me from ever reaching the starting line. Let alone the finish line.

Last Saturday I came in 2798th place in the Hartford Half Marathon with a time of 2:18:23. Lots of people finished

ahead of me. No one beat me. Or in the very least, I didn’t beat myself.

Something happened to me during the summer.

In the coming posts, I want to share my journey with you. Because this is a law blog. A Connecticut law blog. I’m going to focus on what distance running has taught me about the practice of law. The answer is lots.

And I’m putting Burlington, VT on notice for Memorial Day 2010. 26.2 will be all mine.

This time I’m not hesitating to sign up. Registration opens November 1st. After I get home from a Halloween Party, I’m registering.

Running is like law. You’ll never get better unless you push yourself.
