Connecticut Attorney Tim Hollister Launches “From Reid’s Dad Blog” For Parents Of Teenage Drivers

by Ryan McKeen

Those who have endured some misfortune will always be set apart but…it is just that misfortune which is their gift and which is their strength…” – Cormac McCarthy.

One of the very first posts on this blog began with:

I also recall, and will never forget, the chill of that late fall evening on a cold night last December, at the back of Asylum Hill Congregational Church. I was reduced to tears listening to Tim.

That was nearly three years ago.  Tim’s son Reid died at the age of 17 in a one car accident on I-84 in Plainville Connecticut on December 2, 2006. That night a wonderful young man was taken from this Earth far too soon.

Reid’s death left a hole in the hearts of many people. Many of  those people waited in line on a cold December afternoon for over four hours to pay their respects to the Hollister family at Reid’s wake. The same people filled Asylum Hill Congregational Church and its overflow room for a moving service later that week.

I know Tim Hollister. My wife used to work for him. Tim is thoughtful, courageous, and  compassionate. Tim is an excellent advocate.  Right now he’s putting his considerable talents to use helping parents prevent teen driving deaths.

After Reid’s death Tim became a member of Governor Rell’s Teen Driving Task Force which ultimately lead to the legislature passing smarter teen driving laws in 2008.

I encourage you to become a regular reader of “From Reid’s Dad“.  It’s important.

Teen driving deaths can be prevented. Tim Hollister has ideas on how to prevent them. I’m adding Tim’s RSS feed to the main page of this site.

Go Tim.
