Douglas-David Divorce: Can a Marriage Be Worse Than Some Horrible Injury or Even Death?

By Ryan McKeen

That’s the question that ran through my mind as I scrolled Twitterific this morning and saw “Vicious $99 million goes back to Court.” Link.

I know divorce and personal injury are different worlds though I’m sure some would beg to differ.

I’m not sure what the highest personal injury settlement or verdict is in Connecticut but I’m almost positive it’s considerably less than $99 million dollars.

Think about that. Lots of horrible things happen to people and they never come close to a 99 million dollar judgment or verdict. That includes people who suffer horrible life altering injuries such as brain damage or burns and are in pain for the rest of their lives.

Yet in Family Court, someone thinks she’s entitled to that kind of money for being married for 7 years. I know different laws are at play but I’m sure we’re living in an upside down world.
