Official Connecticut Turkey Law Week!

by Ryan C. McKeen

Connecticut has no official celebration of turkey laws.

Blawg “experts” often write self serving posts on how a lawyer looking to start a “blawg” should find a niche and perform a google search to see who if any other blawgers occupy that niche.  Blah, blah, blah….

Gobble, gobble, gobble

Gobble, gobble, gobble

I looked around and didn’t find a Connecticut Turkey Law blog on the net. However I did find some personal injury “blogs” written by some turkeys.

Anyhow, I proclaim that Connecticut Turkey Law Week lasts only three days and consists of three short blog posts on A Connecticut Law Blog. These days shall be observed annually on the Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday prior to Thanksgiving.

For our first course:

No person, association or corporation shall possess more than one live specimen of, breed or propagate any wild game bird or wild game quadruped of the following species without a game breeder’s license as provided herein..in the family Melegrididae, turkeys except domestic strains…The commissioner, upon written application and the payment of a fee of twenty-one dollars, may license any person, association or corporation to possess, breed, propagate and sell any birds or mammals specified in this section. Such license shall be annual and nontransferable and shall expire on the thirty-first day of December after its issuance… Any person, association or corporation which violates any provision of this section or any regulation issued by the commissioner pursuant thereto shall be fined not more than ninety dollars for each offense. Conn. Gen. Stat. Sec. 26-40.

Connecticut has many long statutes related to the hunting and keeping of animals. The above quoted statute is no exception.

In sum, it’s cool to possess 1 turkey without a license. Want two or more turkeys and you’ll need a license or face up to a $90 fine for each offense.

I'd like to thank you for reading this blog, my firm for supporting my blogging efforts, and my team of editors (my mom) for correcting some of my mistakes. I get a number of requests to add blogs to my blogroll. I have no problem doing this if I like your blog. By like I mean, I do not add links from ads that pose as blogs. Thanks again. I hope you enjoy my efforts.
