Why Are Connecticut School Buses Yellow?

Have you ever wondered about this? I haven’t.

This is not some kind of joke or trick question; it’s the law. Read for yourself:

Each school bus shall be painted a uniform yellow color known as “National School Bus Glossy Yellow”, except for the fenders and trim which may be painted black and the roof which may be painted white…  Conn. Gen. Stat. Sec. 14-275(b)

That’s right Connecticut’s School Buses are ”National School Bus Glossy Yellow.”

I can only imagine how the conversation that got this law on the books began. I also want to know where I can purchase “National School Bus Glossy Yellow”, as I may consider painting one of the rooms in the office that color. Great job with the blog Ryan!

Thanks for the post. What do you all think of the future of blogging? I have been reading a lot about google's attempt to gain preferential treatment for its site from internet providers. This will result in their sites being faster than sites owned by individuals and/or smaller comapnies. It's my beleif that if google is able to succeed there will be far less websites out there and therefore far less blogging. The yellow is sickly in my opinion. Being a high school student who has to ride these grossly colored vehicles and being into the whole eco-friendly thing, I really wish the buses were, well, green! Oh well, a girl can dream!
